Curatorial Assistant - Architecture and Design Department

The Museum of Modern Art is currently accepting applications for a Curatorial Assistant in its Architecture and Design Department to assist the department’s senior curatorial staff in all areas of their responsibilities such as acquisitions, collections records, bibliographic and biographical records and files, research for exhibitions and publications, departmental committees, loans, and general curatorial inquiries.
Additional responsibilities include:
* Performing work in relation to the care of the collection and arranging for custodial, registration, and preparation work as required in the maintenance of the collection in gallery, study and storage areas.
* Performing research for exhibitions including research on artists, periods, styles, etc., on specific works, on locations of works, on photograph sources, etc.
* Assisting in arranging loans, preparing catalogues and checklists.
* Coordinating and scheduling work to be done within the Museum and without in such areas as conversation, photography, public information, matting and framing, construction, lighting, etc.
* Assisting with the preparation and installation of wall labels. Conducting daily inspection of the works on view in temporary exhibitions and assisting with necessary follow-up arrangements, answering inquiries and conducting some gallery tours as necessary for visitors and the Friends Group.
* Researching and cataloguing the Museum Collection and Archives under senior staff supervisor and answering related inquiries from public and scholars.
* Assisting in the administration of artists’ viewing program. Assisting in the operation of the departmental study center and the Mies van der Rohe archive.
Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Art History, Architecture or Design. Some relevant work experience is also required as is competence within area of departmental interest. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and other standard office procedures and equipment. Reading knowledge of one or more European languages, preferably Spanish and/or French.

In the Studio.
I can't say that I've been knocking out a bunch of work unless you count the paper shuffle and powerpoint overkill. I do have some new stuff going in a different direction real soon again, as I can't stagnate on unaffordable ideas at this point. Will be upload all new old show flyers soon. Also new work by months end with some Bloomingdale's fabrication pics of stuff I did for the 2009 window in NYC.
